Days of Darkness
Also called the Jewel of the Emerald Empire. Five years of peace have not entirely erased the damage the Clan Wars wrought on the once great city. It now serves as a reminder of how nothing is free from its corruptive influence.
Newly build structures cling to the outside walls, covering up the bloodiest battlefield this nation has seen since its founding. Mostly merchants and heimen, it serves as a surrogate to much of the old city proper. During the day, it bustles with activity and is frequently visited by samurai in the evenings. Inside its walls, much of the original city remains unoccupied. Remnants of the corruption still slink in rundown sections of town and many people refuse to enter. Imperial patrols scour the town, in an attempt to restore order, but some areas hang with the remnants of taint.
The city is not entirely lost. Standing as a beacon of hope, the uncorrupted Imperial Palace remains. Lady Sun’s purification scoured it clean of taint and some say she protects it still. Its walls rise up to protect the Emperor, unblemished. Soldiers stand vigilant along its battlements, and the empire’s most powerful shugenja stand ready at its gates.
